You have an established audience but you’re not generating more leads like you want. We’ve been there and we’re here to tell you that you don’t need a degree to improve lead generation. Check out these 6 effective lead generation tips to get you started on improving your leads.

Effective Lead Generation Tips 11. Your Email Signature

I bet you send out a high number of emails a day. So, why not use this communication to promote your website or service? It’s likely that your recipients are already aware of what you do, but have they ever looked at it? Provide a link in your email signature and help spread the word. It’s an unobtrusive way to promote your work and it’s likely that you’ve already established some sort of relationship with the people you email; making it even more likely that they’ll click on your link. If you don’t believe me check out this case study where the British Red Cross showed using the modified signatures were 20% more likely to end up making a donation.

2. Practice Social Listening on TwitterEffective Lead Generation Tips 2

I’m sure you’ve heard of social media, and if you’re serious about marketing you’ve probably invested time into profiles on the major sites, but are you using all the tools on those sites? One such tool is the ability to practice social listening on Twitter.  A search on the site for your product or range of services can quickly pull up many people interested in what you offer. This gives you the unique opportunity to establish relationships and talk directly with your audience.  For more tips about reaching your audience on social media check out our blog post on social media outreach.

Effective Lead Generation Tips 33. Blog Consistently

So we already know that blogging is great at generating leads, if you aren’t up to date check out our infographic about how blogging can help you.  Once you get a blog going, or if you already have one, you might realize that it’s not always as easy to keep it updated as we think. In our fast-paced world blogging consistently can go the way of last year’s resolutions if we’re not careful to make it a priority.  It’s tempting to give up if we don’t get quick results, but you have to give it time to build up a following. Blogging is a lot like any other potential relationship; you have to give it time. Once you have dedicated readers who keep coming back because your content interests them you can take your interactions to the next level and introduce call to actions. Just remember, to get there you need to blog consistently.

Effective Lead Generation Tips 44. Try the Squint Test

So you’ve looked at the first three tips and you have traffic coming to your site and more leads are coming in, but your site still isn’t functioning at it’s full potential. It’s time for the squint test. The squint test is one of the most low-tech ways to see if your web pages are doing what you want them to. Pull up your website and squint as you look at your site. What’s the first thing that stands out? If it’s not your call to action then your page isn’t working as well as it can. You want to leave no doubt in your user’s minds on what you want them to do. No one is going to spend more than a few minutes at most trying to figure out how to connect with you, unless you’re in the market of giving away money.

Effective Lead Generation Tips 55. Optimize Your About Page

Tell me how easily would you let a stranger have your contact information versus an acquaintance? It’d be much more likely you’d give an acquaintance your email first, right? I’m willing to bet the same is true for your audience. So we need to be sure to at least try and introduce ourselves before asking for their emails. To do that make sure your about me page is optimized. This is where your visitors get to know you and find out what you’re about. Not many people are willing to trust a stranger outside of Mayberry, so be sure to incorporate your team’s personality and passion into your about me page. It’s a great place to let your visitors know that you are real people who believe in what you do. It’s also a good place for a call to action.

Effective Lead Generation Tips 66. Create a Product Video

So your website is running well and you got it going on, but for some reason people still aren’t buying your product like you expected.  Perhaps your audience doesn’t understand your products as well as you think. A great way to fix this is to create a product video. 65% of us are visual learners, this is why info graphics are so effective. Videos have something that infographics don’t though. When done well videos are a really simple way to keep your audience engaged and inspire them to take action on your website. Now you don’t need a degree to make a video. They don’t have to be long or complex. There are a number of free tools, like Animoto, that make the process easier.
